In the whole movement of life, we often invest much of our time in the fulfillment of our desires, whether it be for knowledge, wealth, or even the desire for enlightenment. The universe being in a constant state of change, as one continues living, there is a growing sense that whatsoever one achieves, whatsoever one does, it cannot provide anything more than temporary satisfaction. Something is lacking, and though this sense of what it is which is lacking is so vague, what is crystal clear is that something is missing. Unable to find the cause of our discontentment, we continue searching outwardly for the source of our happiness, not realizing that it is one’s state of consciousness from moment to moment which determines our experience of life. Eventually, a certain hunger starts growing to come to know of a way of being which is beyond our present limitations, whether there is a possibility of living in a state of unbounded freedom which is choiceless.
Satsang means a community of truth, that is, a community which has gathered together for the common purpose of discussing the realities of life and living. Through an informal encounter with the master, the meetings offer an intimate encounter of silence, bliss, and wisdom as Amir Mourad shares his insight into the “spiritual” and “material” dimensions of life. Open to all, when seeing beyond words, satsang is an opportunity for a glimpse into the inexpressible.
